How can we help twelth grade students to prepare and make decisions related to their professional orientation ? The presentation of the annual activity program of a vocational guidance center (C.I.O.) constructed from an orientation workshop brings partial answers to this question. The theorical and methodological contributions of a formal framework of help to decision making are analysed. This formal framework is aiming at a vigilant information processing bearing upon the structuration of the action and the students’ decision making process. This presentation will be further accompanied by an analysis of the effects of this intervention on the work of psychologists and the vocational guidance center.

Comment peut-on aider les élèves de terminales à préparer et à prendre des décisions relatives à leur orientation ? La présentation d’un programme d’activité annuel de C.I.O. articulé autour d’un atelier d’orientation permet d’apporter des éléments de réponse à cette question. On analyse les apports théoriques et méthodologiques d’un cadre formel d’aide à la prise de décision visant à encourager un traitement vigilant de l’information, sur la structuration de l’action mise en œuvre et sur la démarche de préparation et de prise de décision de l’élève. On prolonge cette présentation par la mise en lumière des effets de cette intervention sur l’accomplissement des missions du C.O.P. et du C.I.O.
