Summary. — Merizodus soledadinus is a Trechid of southern American origin, which was introduced to the Kerguelen Islands where it was discovered by Jeannel (1939) at Port Couvreux. Since this time, it expanded its range to almost 80 km along the northern coast of the Main Island and colonized even the île du Port, a small island off this coast. It occupies there an ecological niche of small entomophagous predator, which was empty before its arrival.

. — Merizodus soledadinus est un Tréchide originaire de l'Amérique australe et qui a été introduit dans l'archipel de Kerguelen, où Jeannel (1939) l'a découvert à Port-Couvreux. Depuis, il a étendu son habitat à presque 80 km de côtes au nord de la Grande Terre et a réussi à coloniser aussi l'île du Port. Il y occupe la niche vide jusqu'ici de petit prédateur d'insectes.
