This discovery enables the distribution map of swords dating from the First Iron Age found in or near the Serres region to be completed. Although the possibility that the remains may belong to three or four different swords cannot be dismissed, we think that only two are represented here, each by two fragments : one a tanged antenna sword, the other a sword with a simple tang and curved hilt. Presuming that they are contemporaneous, we would date them to around the middle of the sixth century B.C.
