La pâte de la comendite de Charlannes (Mont-Dore) contient des minéraux riches en manganèse : arfvedsonite (MnO = 13 %) mica (MnO = 9,9 %) magnétite (MnO = 14,7 %), pyrophanite (MnO = 34,6 %). Cet enrichissement est lié à l'augmentation du rapport Mn/Fe dans les séries volcaniques du Mont-Dore lors de leur cristallisation fractionnée.
