La kamitugaïte provient de la pegmatite à béryl et à columbite de Kobokobo, Kivu, Zaïre. Elle se présente en minces tablettes allongées (longueur maximale 0,5 mm), jaunes et transparentes, aplaties sur (010) et allongées suivant [100] avec les arêtes [001], [100] et [-101]. Système triclinique, P1 ou P-1, a = 10.98, b = 15.%, c = 9.068 Å, α = 95.1°, β = 96.1°, γ = 89.0°, V = 1,574 Å3, Z = 2. Densité calculée : 4,47. Raies principales du diagramme de poudre : 7.95 Å (10) 020, 3.972 (8) 040, 3.271 (4) 2-12, 3.175 (4) 050 and 15.92 (3) 010. Biaxe négatif, 2V = 60°, ng = 1,744, nm = 1,735 et np (calculé) = 1,709. Orientation optique : X ~ b* , Y ~ a et Z ~ ⊥ a et b* ; angle a ⋀ Y entre 1 et 2°. Non fluorescent aux UV. Analyse chimique à la microsonde électronique : UO3 71,76 ; Al2O3 2,39 ; PbO 9,86 ; P2O5 5,48 ; As2O5 2,12 ; H2O (par différence) 8,39 %. Formule : PbAl(UO2)5[(P,As)O4]2(OH)9.9,5 H2O. Associations : phosphates d'uranyle et d'aluminium, dumontite et studtite.
