Die liturgischen Einrichtungen der Prioratskirche von Souvigny und die Gräber der heiligen Abte von Cluny, Majolus und Odilo, von Marc-Edouard Gautier Archäologische Beobachtungen, alte und meist unveröffentlichte Quellen und Pläne erlauben es, die räumliche Aufteilung der Prioratskirche von Souvigny seit dem 14. Jahrhundert zu rekonstruieren. Der liturgische Chor, der dreimal verkleinert wurde, wird in seinen verschiedenen Abmessungen lokalisiert. Das Langhaus war in drei funktionelle Zonen unterteilt : fur die Pfarrei, fur die sekundären Kapellen, die heute verschwunden sind, aber datierbar und lokalisierbar, und fur die Wallfahrt zu den Gräbern der heiligen Äbte von Cluny, Majolus und Odilo, dem eigentlichen Herzstuck der Kirche. Diese Rekonstruktion erlaubt es, eine Lokalisierung des Grabdenkmales vorzuschlagen, das die Gisants der heiligen Äbte trug und in der Franzosischen Revolution zerstort wurde. Die jungsten archäologischen Entdeckungen und neue Quellen erweitern unsere Kenntnis über den Zugang zu den Reliquien, den Aufbau und die Geschichte der den heiligen Äbten geweihten Altare und stellen die Idee einer gemeinsamen Grablege der beiden Äbte erneut in Frage.

Liturgical arrangements in the priory of Souvigny and the tombs of Saint Mayeul and Saint Odilon, abbots of Cluny, by Marc- Edouard Gautier The arrangement of the spaces in the priory church of Souvigny since the fourteenth century can be reconstructed from archaeological observations and often unpublished written sources and old groundplans. The liturgical choir, reduced three times, is situated in its different extensions. The nave was organised in three functional spaces intended respectively : for the parish ; for the secondary chapels, which can be situated and dated although they no longer exist ; and for the pilgrimage to what was the true heart of the church - the tombs of Mayeul and Odilon, the sainted abbots of Cluny. The present reconstruction proposes a localisation of the funerary monument bearing the gisants of the two abbots, which was destroyed at the Revolution. Recent archaeological discoveries and new written sources clarify our knowledge concerning access to the relies, as well as the disposition and history of the altars dedicated to the two saints. They also throw into question the idea of a common burial for the two abbots.

Des observations archéologiques, des sources et plans anciens souvent inédits permettent de restituer l'aménagement de l'espace dans l'église prieurale de Souvigny depuis le XIVe siècle. Le chœur liturgique, réduit trois fois, est situé dans ses différentes extensions. La nef était organisée en trois espaces fonctionnels, pour la paroisse, pour les chapelles secondaires, aujourd'hui disparues mais datées et situées, et pour le pèlerinage auprès des tombeaux des saints abbés de Cluny, Mayeul et Odilon, véritable cœur de l'église. Cette restitution a permis de proposer une localisation du monument funéraire, qui portait les gisants des saints abbés, détruit à la Révolution. Les récentes découvertes archéologiques et des sources nouvelles font mieux connaître l'accès aux reliques, la disposition et l'histoire des autels dédiés aux saints abbés, et remettent en cause l'idée d'une sépulture commune des deux abbés.
