Aerial archeological research during the year 1978 have proved the effectiveness of low-altitude detection. With the peculiar conditions of the Andalusian milieu, soil- and cropmarks can be used more than damp-marks. Bronze Age circular sites have appeared and many plans of rural settlements are visible: great U-shaped villas and small concentrated faims. Defensive structures are often associated with late Roman villas. Survival of Roman fundi and the transition from the villa to the medieval torre are problems which aerial reconnaissance may help to resolve.
