The baby and its nearest relatives ; from the family to the "creche". The author shows how the "creche” does not constitute either an extension of the family or another family but a theatre where various feelings are expressed through the roles and the prerogatives that each member will claim for himself or herself. It is a play with three poles of attention : the parents with their dreams, their frustrations, their requirements and their fears ; the baby with its needs - and "those women who bring up the children of others" with a mission to adapt to their own calling and to the parents'expectations and sensibilities at one and the same time.

L'auteur établit comment la crèche ne constitue pas un prolongement de la famille, ni une autre famille, mais un théâtre où se jouent des sentiments très divers à travers les rôles et les prérogatives que chacun s'attribue. Pièce à trois pôles : les parents, leurs rêves, leurs frustrations, leurs exigences et leurs craintes - le bébé et ses besoins -"ces femmes qui élèvent les enfants des autres", avec une mission à ajuster à la fois à leur vocation, et aux attentes et susceptibilités parentales.
