Le rituel de mariage de la région du Poles' e utilise nombre de symboles (objets, actions, couleurs, végétaux) pour exprimer la "pureté" ou "l'impureté" de la fiancée. Ainsi, au lendemain de la nuit de noces, un drapeau, un foulard, un morceau de tissu rouge-couleur symbolique du sang-était hissé sur un grand mât ou une perche et informait les participants à la noce de la virginité de la jeune fille. Si la fiancée s'avérait au contraire impure, soit le drapeau n'était plus rouge mais blanc, noir ou bleu, soit il n 'était plus suspendu.
