Résumé En

The first part of this article deals with the first regnal years of king Milkyaton, at the beginning of the 4th century B.C., just after his accession to the throne (ca. 392-391), all events which I was able to reconstitue, basing my arguments mainly on the newly discovered Phoenician inscription, the so-called "Trophy Inscription", and on other, already known, inscriptions. It appears that whereas Kition was the political and administrative capital, Idalion, the second city of the kingdom, was certainly the economical capital of the Phoenician kings of Kition and Idalion. This is now confirmed by the very numerous economical inscriptions (ostraca) retrieved by Maria Hadjicosti during her excavations, some examples of which will be presented below.
