C. Becker — A Note on the Figures of the French Atlantic Slave Trade in the 18th Century. The publication of Metta's Repertory and the exploitation of sources newly discov-ered in French archives leads to an upward reappraisal of Curtin's estimation of the number of slaves transported aboard French ships in the 18th century. In any case the actual numbers have little real meaning as long as they are not brought to bear upon historical demographie data which are still in ail too short supply.
