Contrary to the current opinion that the Chinese language has no formal markers to distinguish the 'eventual' and the 'counterfactual', we will argue that bu shi 'not be', in correlation with other markers in the sentence can be used to express in a negative hypothetical clause.

Contrairement à l'opinion courante selon laquelle le chinois ne dispose pas de marqueurs formels pour distinguer 'l'éventuel' et le 'contrefactuel', nous essayerons de démontrer que bu shi 'ne pas être', en corrélation avec d'autres indices dans la phrase contribue à exprimer le contrefactuel dans une hypothétique négative.
