Leonid Heller and Antoine Baudin, Socialist realism as organization of the cultural field. This article gives a survey of Zhdanovist socialist realism viewed less as aesthetics or ideology than as a particular delimitation of the cultural field organized on several levels which are briefly described here, in the light of suggested schemes. The institutional actors of these schemes are presented here as well as their functional instances (constitution, chain of production-distribution-reception, control...). The Zhdanovist campaign around opera shows how it works. Its main characteristics and general effects are the following: a centralization and increasing hierarchization as well as the increase in the number of organs and the splitting of functions that serve to square the field and control artistic institutions (an institutional complexity that introduces into the system "air pockets" that are part of it); the generic, thematic, formal paradigmatization, the ideological, aesthetic and organizational integration of all the subjects combined with partitioning; the control of all instances on the axis production-distribution-reception; the concentration and even the scarcity of the production together with the expansion of its distribution and the unprecedented ritualization of its applications.

Cet article fait le point sur une étude du réalisme socialiste jdavonien considéré moins comme une esthétique ou une idéologie que comme une structuration particulière du champ culturel qui s'organiserait à plusieurs niveaux sommairement décrits ici à la lumière des schémas proposés. Les acteurs institutionnels du champ sont passés en revue, ainsi que ses instances fonctionnelles (formation, chaîne production-diffusion-réception, contrôle...) Une campagne jdanovienne autour de l'opéra offre un exemple de fonctionnement de ce dispositif. Les traits spécifiques et les effets généraux de ce dernier sont : une centralisation et une hiérarchisation croissante, mais aussi la multiplication d'organes et le dédoublement des fonctions qui assurent à la fois le quadrillage du champ et le contrôle des institutions artistiques (cette complexité institutionnelle laisse subsister, dans le système, des « poches d'air » qui en sont une partie intégrante) ; paradigmatisation générique, thématique, formelle ; intégration idéologique, esthétique - littérarisation - et organisationnelle de toutes les disciplines qui va de pair avec leur cloisonnement ; contrôle de l'ensemble des pratiques sur l'axe production - diffusion-réception ; concentration, voire raréfaction de la production, mais massification de sa diffusion et ritualisation sans précédent de ses usages.
