Françoise Weil, « Un franc-maçon oublié : l'auteur des «Nouvelles de la Cour et de la Ville» (1734-1738) », Dix-Huitième Siècle, ID : 10.3406/dhs.1978.1186
Françoise Weil : A forgotten freemason. The Nouvelles de la Cour et de la Ville (1734-1738), published in 1879, are unsigned, but thanks to a series of clues, we have been able to identify the author as a certain Pierre de Billy, a Lyon lawyer. The text shows that he was closely linked to the Prince of Carignan and his friends, in other words with the Free-Masons. In fact de Billy was one of the founders of Free-Masonry in Lyon and seems to have been the communicating link between Free-Masons in Paris and Lyon around 1737.
