One of the major conceptions of language developed in the course of the 19th century is that which takes language to be an organism. This conception varies from school to school. According to Ferdinand Becker's view, it corresponds to a logic construction in the sense of Aristotelian categories. The same is true of the philosopher Friedrich Adolf Trendelenburg.

L'une des conceptions majeures de la langue au cours du 19ème siècle est celle qui considère la langue comme un organisme. Mais la conception organique diffère d'une école à l'autre. Chez Ferdinand Becker, ce concept correspond à une construction logique au sens des catégories aristotéliciennes. Conception identique chez le philosophe Friedrich Adolf Trendelenburg.
