L'étagement de la végétation dans l'Apennin méridional

The author recalls the main facts that enable to recognize in Southern Apennines four vegetation levels : the very lrnge mediterranean level comprises two sub-levels : a "thermomediterranean" level characterized by the Oleo-lenticetum and a "mesomediterranean" level represented by the units of the Quercion ilicis. The supramediterranean level is essentially represented by the Melitto-Quercion and partly by the Ostryo-Carpinion, whereas the mountainous level, with a mediterranean character, is the horizon of the Geranio-Fagion. At last, the oro-mediterranean level, well individualized though strongly localized, is characterized by the Seslerion apenninae.

L'auteur nappelle les principaux éléments qui permettent de reconnaître dans l'Apennin méridional quatre étages de végétation. L'étage méditerranéen s. l. à très large extension est composé de deux sous-étages : thermoméditerranéen caractérisé par l'Oléo-lenticetum, et mésoméditerranéen représenté pan les unités du Quercius ilicis. L'étage supraméditerranéen est essentiellement lié au Mellitto Quercion et partiellement à l'Ostryo carpinion alors que l'étage montagnard à caractère méditerranéen est l'horizon du Geranio Fagion. Enfin l’étage oroméditerranéen bien individualisé, quoique très localisé, est canactérisé par le Seslerion apenninae.
