Serge Rambal, « A simulation model for predicting water balance and canopy water potential of a Quercus coccifera garrigue after fire », Ecologia Mediterranea, ID : 10.3406/ecmed.1988.1222
We have built a model and simulated flows of water in a Quercus coccifera garrigue. The essential concept of this model is that the water status of the canopy is governed by the water lost by transpiration and the water supplied by the roots. For mature Q. coccifera canopy, the test of validation of the model indicates : 1) the general reliability of predicted evapotranspiration rates, and 2) that the trend of leaf water potential is well simulated. For burned Q. coccifera, a better knowledge of the physiology of resprouting is necessary. Q. coccifera does not seem to maintain a deep, functionnal root system after fire.
