The founding opposition in international researches between "realists" and "idealists" is today still current through the couple "statocentriques"/ "transnationalistes". Ibis last trend sees a rupture in the recent changes (globalisation, role of the individual, resistance to the state) although these trends are old ones. On the contrary, the strength of the realistic trend consists in adapting its analyses to the changing diversity of political constructions. Links between the two schools of thought remain possible but the risk remains that the dialog of the deaf will go on.

L'opposition fondatrice de recherches sur les relations internationales entre "réalistes" et "idéalistes" est toujours présente aujourd'hui à travers le couple "statocentriques "/"transnationalistes". Ce dernier courant vent une rupture dans les changements récents (mondialisation, rôle des individus, résistance à l'État) alors que ces tendances sont anciennes. À l'inverse, la force du courant réaliste consiste à adapter ses analyses à la diversité évolutive des constructions politiques. Des passerelles entre les deux écoles restent possibles mais le risque demeure que le dialogue de sourds se prolonge.
