The ageing of population: challenge and contradiction. The author specifies the content and the full dimensions of the ageing of population, after that he examines the economic, social, psycho-social and demographic implications, at the national, then local level. He emphasizes that continuing to apply the rules of a young society to an old society is a contradiction.

Après avoir précisé le contenu et la portée du vieillissement de la population, l'auteur en examine les implications économiques, sociales, psycho-sociales et démographiques au niveau national, puis au niveau local. Il souligne la contradiction qui consiste à continuer à appliquer à une société vieillie les règles d'une société jeune.
