Résumé
This article evaluates the management practices of the World Heritage site of Aksum beginning in the late 1990s until the present from the point view of conservation, legal frameworks, the 1972 convention of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) and its revised operational guidelines with a meticulous focus on the reinstallation of Stela 2, the destabilization of Stela 3 and the construction of a Church museum within the core zone of the property. It also discusses the current conservation threats of the same property that emerge from development projects, urbanizations, and the negligence of UNESCO and the regional and federal governments.
