Folks of Lower Normandy, what if your water were running out ? Because of its reputely humid climate, Lower Normandy is commonly considered as a fertile land where everything grows in profusion. This well worn idea, belied several times by the new columns over the last few decades, is, in reality, not true. This idea is countered by information drawn from rigourous analyses based on the treatment of numerous duly quantified water budgets. By exposing the fallacy of the traditional image, this climatic approach, using a well tested method that gives the same unvarying conclusions will, it is hoped, encourage an increasingly more rational management and a more parsimonious use of the water resource. While being renevable, this vital natural resource is nevertheless subject to a quota system of distribution... even in Lower Normandy.

Par son climat réputé très humide, la Basse-Normandie fait couramment figure de région plantureuse où tout pousse à foison. Or cette image banale, maintes fois démentie par la chronique lors de ces dernières décennies, ne se vérifie pas vraiment. En témoignent les enseignements contraires tirés d'une analyse rigoureuse fondée sur l'exploitation de nombreux bilans hydriques, dûment quantifiés.
