One of the important changes taking place in the transportation world is the growing importance of the "fixed elements" in transportation, which have traditionally been given a minor place with respect to moving elements (vehicles, roads, circulation, driving, and so on). In other words, in network terms, the "points" are now being reevaluated with respect to lines. From the modest sidewalk bus stop to an airport exchange complex, "network-points" indeed present a double challenge: 1) that of the insertion of the network into a territory (problems of placement, urban insertion, socio-economic effects); 2) and of multi-modality, that is, connection or networking among several modes or systems of transportation (including public/private). The present article proposes an analysis of the concept of "network-points" in order to decude a classification typology and a method for examining functionalities and services offered within these transportation areas.

L'une des grandes évolutions actuelles du monde du transport est l'importance croissante que prennent les "parties immobiles", traditionnellement minorées par rapport aux parties mobiles (véhicule, voie, circulation, conduite, etc.); autrement dit, en termes de réseau, la revalorisation des "points" par rapport aux lignes. C'est qu'en effet, du modeste point d'arrêt d'autobus, muni d'un simple potelet sur un trottoir, jusqu'au complexe d'échange aéroportuaire, les points-de-réseaux sont porteurs d'un double enjeu: 1) celui de l'articulation du réseau au territoire (problèmes de localisation, d'insertion urbaine, des effets socio-économiques), 2) celui de la multimodalité, c'est-à-dire de la connexion entre plusieurs modes ou systèmes de transport (y compris public/privé). Le présent article propose une analyses du concept même de point-de-réseau afin d'en déduire une typologie et une méthode d'examen des fonctionnalités et des services offerts au sein de ces espaces du transport.
