Philippe Zarifian : Toward a «World People» ? The author wishes to show that globalization and economic worldwide expansion, far from promoting a world-wide development, only induces local and precarious effects, dominated by the instantaneity of the placements of capital in the financial markets. Dynamic exchange networks are forming throughout the Globe, but these only sketch a large skeleton associated with the growth of human deserts. As a counterpart, however, the World also constitutes itself by the bonds woven by different peoples, by their physical mixing and by the shared beckonings of the major media. Thus, within the hidden folds of capitalism, there may perhaps be rising a new «World People», the outline for a genuine humanity.

L'auteur s'attache à montrer que la globalisation et la mondialisation économiques, loin de promouvoir un développement mondial, n'induisent que des effets locaux et précaires, dominés par la vitesse instantanée de placement des capitaux sur les marchés financiers. Des réseaux dynamiques d'échanges se constituent sur l'ensemble du globe, mais ils ne dessinent qu'un vaste squelette, associé à une croissance des déserts humains. En contrepartie toutefois, le monde se constitue aussi par les liens que les différents peuples tissent, par leur mélange physique, comme par les interpellations communes que fournissent les grands médias. Ainsi, dans les replis du capitalisme, surgit peut-être un nouveau Peuple-Monde ; l'esquisse d'une véritable humanité.
