Aus der regionalen und stratigraphischen Verbreitung der Gastropodenfaunen in Frankreich und den angrenzenden Gebieten wird die Verteilung tropischer und subtropischer Bereiche wàhrend des Cenomaniens rekonstruiert. Die Gastropoden des unteren und mittleren Cenomaniens sind von nordamerika-nischen Faunen abzuleiten. Bis zum oberen Cenomanien verhindert eine kältere Strömung das Ausbreiten tropischer Formen in Sudostfrankreich, während diese in der Aquitaine vorhanden sind. Mit dem oberen Cenomanien tritt eine ànderung im Strömungssystem ein, was zu einer Neuverteilung der Temperatur-bereiche fiihrt. Es wird dadurch bewirkt, daß sich tethysche Faunenelemente über Südfrankreich und das Pariser Becken gegen Norden ausbreiten konnen. Sudostfrankreich, wâhrend diese in der Aquitaine vorhanden sind. From the regional and stratigraphical distribution of Cenomanian gastropod faunas in France and the adjoining areas the extent of a tropical and a subtropical realm is deduced. The Lower and Middle Cenomanian faunas were descending from the North American faunas. Until the Upper Cenomanian a cold ocean current prevented the occurrence of Tropical gastropods in the Southeast of France while they occurred in the Aquitaine basin. With the beginning of the Upper Cenomanian a change in the current system leads to a redistribution of faunal realms and Tethyan elelements extend over Southern France and the Paris basin further North.

La répartition régionale et stratigraphique des faunes de gastropodes cénomaniens de France et des régions voisines permet de délimiter des provinces tropicale et subtropicale. Les faunes du Cénomanien inférieur et moyen dérivent des faunes nord-américaines. Jusqu'au Cénomanien supérieur, un courant océanique froid s'oppose à l'extension des gastropodes tropicaux dans le Sud-Est de la France, alors qu'ils occupent le Bassin Aquitaine. Au début du Cénomanien supérieur, une modification de l'agencement des courants entraîne une réorganisation des provinces fauniques et des éléments téthysiens envahissent le Sud de la France, et débordent le Bassin de Paris vers le Nord.
