A neotectonic scheme of the Pelagian plateform is proposed from a continuous seismic profiling study of some characteristic structures. It appears that the horizontal component movements registred (and more especially on the north-western part of this plateform) by the sedimentary layers could be the expression of the repercussion of the alpine orogeny, whereas the continuation of the African craton drift seems associated with vertical components movements of the old basement. From a general point of view, this whole plateform seems to be characterised by the continuation until the present time of tectonic movements, leading to a direct structural control of its morphology and by the importance of salt diapirism and volcanism.

Une esquisse néotectonique de la plate-forme pélagienne est proposée à partir de l'étude de quelques structures caractéristiques reconnues par les méthodes de sismique continue (Étinceleur). Les contrecoups de l'orogénèse alpine se manifestent au nord-ouest par une tectonique de couverture associée à des mouvements verticaux au sud. D'un point de vue général l'ensemble de cette plate-forme paraît caractérisée par la pérennité des mouvements tectoniques conduisant au contrôle structural direct de la morphologie et par l'importance du salifère et du volcanisme.
