The Ouenza carbonate platform is a decakilometric sedimentary system surrounded by marly formations, which have been acting during the main part of the Gargasian and have been interrupted at Clansayesian. The platform is made of an outer coral facies zone and an inner Rudist facies one. A triasic diapirism had initiated the platform statement, the main history of which is also determined by diapiric activity probably controled by the reactivation of an hercynian fault.

La plate-forme carbonatée de l'Ouenza est un dispositif sédi-mentaire décakilométrique encadré par des formations marneuses, qui a fonctionné durant la plus grande partie du Gargasien et s'est interrompu au Clansayésien. La plate-forme comprend une bordure externe corallienne et une zone interne à Rudistes. Le démarrage du dispositif et une partie de son histoire ont été commandés par un diapirisme triasique probablement modulé par le rejeu d'un accident hercynien.
