A biozonation of the Coniacian -Santonian in Provence has been established by mean of planktonic Foraminifera. Ostracods which are mainly news species have been integrated in this framework. Although relatively reliable at the regional scale, this zona-tion needs to be compared with zonations established in other areas of the mesogean province. On the paleoecological level, it is possible to analyse with accuracy the repartition of the associations of benthic Foraminifera and Ostracods in various types of paleoenvironments. Microfau-nas from «margino-littoral» environments and the transition to the non marine formations at the end of the Santonian are also discus¬ sed.

Une biozonation du Coniacien -Santonien de Provence a été établie en utilisant préférentiellement les Foraminifères. Les Ostracodes, souvent nouveaux, ont été insérés dans ce cadre. Bien que relativement fiable à l'échelle régionale, cette biozonation demande à être confrontée à celles d'autres régions de la province méso-géenne. Sut le plan paléoécologique, on peut analyser de façon précise, la distribution des associations de Foraminifères benthiques et d'Ostracodes dans les divers types de paléoenvironnements. Les microfaunes des paléo-milieux margino-littoraux et le passage progressif aux formations fluvio-lacustres de la fin du Santonien sont également évoqués.
