: From a methodological point of view, Cognitive Semantics can be considered a return to the position of the prestnicturalist tradition of diachronic semantics. If this is correct, the epistemological objectivity of semantic analysis becomes one of the major issues for contemporary lexical semantics, which then appears to be characterized by a double tension. First, there is a tension between the objectivist desire for formalisation that is the driving force of Cognitive Science, and the hermeneutic strand in Cognitive Semantics that opposes such objeclivist tendencies. Second, to the extent that the hermeneutic aspects of semantics are recognized, there is a tension between the original hermeneutic desire for faithful interpretations, and the danger of extreme relativism that could be derived from the recognition of the perspectival nature of all interpretative positions.

RÉSUMÉ : Si la Sémantique Cognitive constitue, d'un point de vue méthodologique, un retour à la position préstructuraliste de la sémantique historique traditionnelle, le problème épistémologique de l'objectivité est la question de base de la sémantique lexicale contemporaine. La situation actuelle est alors caractérisée par une double tension. D'un côté, il y a une tension entre, d'une part, l'essai de rapprocher la sémantique d'orientation logique et la sémantique d'orientation cognitive par la formalisation de la dernière, et, d'autre part, l'aspect herméneutique de la Sémantique Cognitive qui se méfie d'une telle formalisation comme la marque d'un objectivisme scientiste. De l'autre côté, pour autant que cet aspect herméneutique est reconnu comme fondamental, il y a une tension entre la volonté herméneutique originaire de fidélité par rapport au texte, et la force séductrice d'un relativisme incontrôlé qui pourrait découler de la prise de conscience de l'historicité de toute position interprétative.
