Seeing and giving to see architecture : engravings from the "Revue générale de l’architecture et des travaux publics". The Revue générale de l’architecture et des travaux publics published by César Daly from 1840 to 1890 gave considerable space to images. The use of the most modern and varied techniques, the editing of the illustrations within or outside the text, the ratios plans /elevations and line /light and shade, are all used to the full to serve the editor’s views and to follow their development.
