Hélène Châtelain, Nestor Makhno — Images and Word The film Nestor Makhno, Ukrainian Peasant directed by Hélène Châtelain, is the result of an investigation of memory, and a study of how images and history were transformed by the Soviet authorities. The filmmaker's research illuminates not only how the memory of Makhno was eradicated, but also the power of language and filmed documents. The text published here is a witness to the birth of a film and how history is related.
