After having recalled the need for national and regional solidarity in the implementation of major infrastructure projects in the North -Pas-de-Calais Region, Vice President Ch. Bataille insisted on the necessary coherence which would be required in the programming and scheduling of these different projects (Channel Tunnel, TGV, road network). He invited all the different bodies and interests groups in the region to be ready to face up to the new economic landscape and to mobilise in consequence : North -Pas-de-Calais of to morrow will be one of the most important cross roads for communication in Europe, at a time when the customs barriers will disappear. He strongly encouraged everybody to take up this challenge.

Après avoir rappelé la nécessité de la solidarité nationale et régionale dans la mise en œuvre des grands projets d'infrastructure dans le Nord -Pas-de-Calais, le Vice-Président Ch. Bataille a insisté sur l'indispensable cohérence de la programmation dans le temps de tous ces ouvrages (Tunnel sous la Manche, TGV, infrastructures routières). Il a invité tous les acteurs régionaux à être prêts à prendre en compte la nouvelle définition du paysage économique et à se mobiliser en conséquence : le Nord -Pas-de-Calais de demain sera l'un des plus grands carrefours de l'Europe au moment même où s'effaceront les barrières douanières. Il a exhorté tous les interlocuteurs con¬ cernés à relever ce défi.
