The situation of the «Nord -Pas-de-Calais» Region in the North-West Europe will be more central in the next future because the Channel Tunnel, High Speed Train and Great European Market will be operating. Those facts will probably improve the brand image of the «Nord -Pas-de-Calais» Region. The Lille-Roubaix-Tourcoing conurbation will be more important inside its region. It is very difficult to forecast the global economic results of these changes because they will amplify both the regional strengths and weaknesses on the very various markets present in the modern economy.

L'accumulation des savoirs et le perfectionnement des technologies renforcent la division du travail. Ceci multiplie les échanges de produits intermédiaires et d'informations et par conséquent accroît les besoins de transport et de moyens de communication. La centralité du Nord -Pas-de-Calais va s'accroître au sein de l'Europe du Nord-Ouest grâce à la réalisation du Tunnel sous la Manche, du TGV-Nord et du grand marché européen.
