Coming from textile, mail order has moved from a world of massive production, distribution of industrial products to a world of personalization of business relations. Since 1989, differentiation has increased in the field of manpower management, influenced by 2 tendencies. On one hand the stabilisation of employment of wich knowledge is specific, on the other hand, the different forms of precariousness in a never ending search for optimal flexibility inside transnational networks. Globalisation is playing here with heterogeneous productive structures and their geographical interconnections, which increase the fragmentation of wages ratio and give to territories a kind of plasticity.

Issue du textile, la Vente par Catalogue (VPC) est passée du monde de la production/distribution massive des produits industriels, à celui de la personnalisation des relations commerciales. Depuis 1989, les différenciations s'accroissent dans la gestion de la main d'oeuvre, influencées par deux tendances. D'une part, la stabilisation d'emplois dont les savoirs sont spécifiques, d'autre part, les formes multiples de précarité dans une recherche incessante de flexibilités optimales à l'intérieur de réseaux transnationaux. La mondialisation joue, ici, des structures productives hétérogènes et de leurs interconnexions géographiques, ce qui accroît la fragmentation du rapport salarial et imprime aux territoires une certaine plasticité.
