A Chronological Approach to the Site of Coamiles (Nayarit, Mexico) : Dating by Thermoluminescence and Radiocarbon.The excavations led by Christian Duverger and Daniel Lévine between 1984 and 1988 at Coamiles (Nayarit) were the subject of a program of thermoluminescence dating at the University of Bordeaux III-CRIAA Laboratory. The investigational procedures in the field and the analysis procedures in the laboratory were coordinated and conceived specially with this aim : to associate stratigraphy and absolute chronology. The results were then cross-referenced with 14C dates from the same site obtained from Groningen laboratory . The present article is an interpretation of a total of 24 dates which not only bring ligth to the site's history, but establish a chronology for Western Mexico between the beginning of the Christian Era and the Spanish Conquest.

Les fouilles menées à Coamiles (Nayarit) par Christian Duverger et Daniel Lévine entre 1984 et 1988 ont donné lieu à un programme de datations par thermoluminescence réalisées à l'Université de Bordeaux III dans le laboratoire du CRIAA, formation associée au CNRS. Les procédures d'investigation sur le terrain et les protocoles d'analyse de laboratoire ont été spécialement conçus pour répondre à un objectif principal : associer stratigraphie et chronologie absolue. Les résultats obtenus ont ensuite été croisés avec les datations 14C effectuées à Groningen. Le présent article interprète un total de 24 datations qui permettent non seulement d'éclairer l'histoire du site mais aussi de fixer la chronologie de l'ouest mexicain entre le 1er siècle de notre ère et la Conquête.

Fechados por termoluminiscencia y Carbono 14Las excavaciones efectuadas en Coamiles (Nayarit) por Christian Duverger et Daniel Lévine, entre 1984 y 1988, han permitido establecer una série de fechados por termoluminiscencia efectuados en la Université de Bordeaux III, en el laboratorio del CRIAA. Los procedimientos de investigation de campo y los protocolos de análisis de laboratorio han sido concebidos especialmente para responder a un objetivo principal : asociar la estratigrafia y la cronologia absoluta. Los resultados obtenidos han sido luego controlados con los fechados 14C, realizados en Groningen. Este artículo interpreta 24 fechados que permiten aclarar la historia del sitio y contribuyen a determinar la cronologia del occidente mexicano, entre el 1er siglo de nuestra era y la Conquista.
