This article tries to study the strange story told by Herodotus (6.69) concerning the birth of the Spartan king Demaratus and the political and religious role played in this story by the heroon of Astrabacus situated, according to Herodotus, right outs ide the court of the royal house.

Cet article étudie le cadre dans lequel s'' intègre l''étrange histoire racontée par Hérodote concernant la naissance du roi spartiate Démarate et le rôle (politique aussi bien que cultuel) qu''a joué dans cette naissance le hérôon d''Astrabacus, situé, d''après le texte d''Hérodote (6. 69), auprès de la porte de la cour de la maison royale.
