Résumé En

When the emblematic mode of composition is used in lyric Poetry as a système of representation (an image and its commentary), does its topical importance outweight the word, transforming discourse into a mere echo of the doxa ? A commentary on several of Jean de Sponde's sonnets shows that, through emblematic representation, the mimetic object is transformed into a metaphor for an invisible reality. This does not, however, inhibit the emergence of networks of meaning that go beyond the significance of the image itself, emphasizing the « discordance » of the subject.
