Jean-Charles Gateau, « Butor et Pfund en nécromants », Littérature, ID : 10.3406/litt.1991.2563
Compel the deads to come back is what Pfund's aquatints aim at ; and Butor gives them voices. The formal structure of Butor' s writing gives limits, builds passages and, by permutations, allows reversibility. This is a strategy against the strange power of the engraving. Series of metaphors and metonymies are connected with the literary fecundity of images. The poem intricated with humour and mourning, gives to the images their desolated voice.
