Résumé
Sarraute's work explores perception « before » language — before the structuring and recognising effects of nomination on feeling. She develops a process of « archaic mimetism », using allegory, apparently spontaneous comparisons, and the sonorous qualities of language. But these techniques ultimately disown the body, and characters appear lost in their « sensorial solitude » : the mode of minute perception is not a happy reclaiming of the world.
