Fernandoa Pessoa, Greek Jew The heteronymy characteristic of Pessoa, object of much analysis, must also be read as the dramatic projection of a philosophical dilemna between the Greek and the Jewish heritage — with heteronyms ultimately often as hybrid as Pessoa himself, convinced only of the value and autonomy of poetry.
