Last Look at the Baroque. A Short Autobiography of a Past Adventure A generation of critics' work revitalising the baroque and seeing it as a component of French 17th century culture, is in its anachronicism a response to the demands of the 20th, and thus unrepentant, if historical critical categories better account for the contemporaneity of Lully and Racine.
