The Beginning of the End: The Introduction to the Fourth Part of "Mémoires d'outre-tombe". The post- 1830 opening to the fourth part of the Memoirs is the expression of the limbo in which the author is now located: writing still goes on, yet how can the personal Story continue if it has ceased to be part of History?
