The Entre-Moi: Maupassant's Horla, or a World Without Borders The Horla deals with the difficulty of knowing who one is, and explores possible solutions through writing, which yields the differentiation of self into writer and reader, integrating thereby the temporal issue of the problem. But it is no solution to the real and present writer's predicament concerning his self now and there.
