The individual consumption rate of fuel such as "super" petrol and motor oil seems to be a very significant indication of the economic standard of living in a regional area. Individual surveys have enabled the author to calculate those iigu* res over a wide range of towns from Provence and the French Riviera and to work out so far as distribution is concerned, three different economic types according to the importance, the activity and the situation of the chosen urban combines.

Le taux de consommation individuelle de carburant, essence-super et gas-* oil, apparaît comme un indice très significatif du niveau économique d'un espace régional. Des enquêtes personnelles ont permis à i 'auteur de chiffrer cet indice sur un échantillon de villes provençales et azuréennes et de discerner, en matière de distri* button, trois types de comportement, suivant 2a taille, l'activité et la localisation des unités urbaines choisies.
