Résumé En Fr

ATHENS airport, important gateway of international long haul air routes, is ranking first in the world with its direct transit traffic of passengers. A dense system of connections directed towards Europe, Middle East and Northern America allows it to realize the opening of Greece to the world. Focusing the domestic network, it plays a major part in the regional planning policy of Greece. The rapid traffic increase following from this twin function is hardly absorbed by the Hellinikon platform despite of continual improvements. Now closely surrounded by an anarchic urbanization, the airport has to minimize its nuisances while waiting for an ineluctable transfer to Spata, in Mesogea.
