Thanks to a very high fertility ratio, Albanian population, since 1945, has known the highest rise in Europe. The opening of borders that followed the collapse of its communist regime triggered an emigration phenomenon that amounted to one tenth of the Albanian population. Furthermore, towns -and particularly Tirana- grow very rapidly because of the rural-urban migration that empties the mountain areas.

La population de l'Albanie a enregistré depuis 1945 la plus forte croissance en Europe du fait d'une très forte fécondité. L'ouverture des frontières qui a suivi l'effondrement du régime communiste a provoqué une émigration dont le volume équivaut au dizième de la population albanaise. En outre les villes -et surtout Tirana- s'accroissent très rapidement en conséquence d'un exode rural qui vide les régions montagneuses.
