The objective of this article is to draw up a balance sheet of work carried out over a 30-year period in the Southern Alps on geomorphological and postglacial paleoenvironmental evolution. Initiated by M. Jorda in the 1980s, this research has focused on defining the major stages of postglacial sedimentation and on underscoring the «main postglacial filling-in». On this basis, the spatial and temporal disparities of the morphogenesis have subsequently been demonstrated. Research has been oriented to biomorphoclimatic interpretations based on the analysis and the comparison of diverse paleoecological indicators (malacology, anthracology, dendrochronology). Resulting interpretations are found in sedimentation rhythms and a renewal of the hydrodynamic and paleogeographical vision of the main postglacial filling-in.

L'objectif de cet article est de dresser un bilan des travaux menés depuis une trentaine d'années dans les Alpes du Sud sur l'évolution géomorphologique et paléoenvironnementale postglaciaire. Initiées par M. Jorda dans les années 1980, ces recherches ont porté sur la définition des grandes étapes de la sédimentation postglaciaire et sur la mise en évidence du «Remblaiement postglaciaire principal». Sur cette base, les disparités spatiotemporelles de la morphogenèse ont ensuite été mises en évidence. Puis les recherches se sont orientées sur les interprétations bio-morphoclimatiques fondées sur l'analyse et la confrontation de divers indicateurs paléoécologiques (malacologie, anthracologie, dendrochronologie). Il en résulte des interprétations sur les rythmes de la sédimentation et un renouvellement de la vision hydrodynamique et paléogéographique de la mise en place du remblaiement postglaciaire principal.
