The Channel tunnel has modified the trade relationships between the UK and the Mainland Europe even before the first crossing under the sea. This communication will present the impact of this new system of transport as well as the effect of the sea companies strategies during the built of the tunnel and its opening in 1994. How is the market 2 years after the first freight services opening by the Channel tunnel ?

Le tunnel sous la Manche a contribué à modifier le marché des échanges anglo-continentaux et ceci, avant même que le premier train ne l'emprunte. Cette communication se propose d'analyser l'impact du système de transport ainsi que celui des stratégies adoptées par les opérateurs maritimes pendant la phase de construction de l'ouvrage et depuis sa mise en service progressive en 1994. Qu'en est-il aujourd'hui ; c'est-à-dire deux ans après l'ouverture du tunnel aux premiers services fret ?
