Located at the limit of the Paris Basin and Massif Central, the 17 communes of the Pays de Tronçais (540 sq km, 11 000 inhabitants) undergo an alarming demographic and economic decline, in spite of essets in their landscape, among them the Tronçais forest, and of valorization efforts, of long-standing already. Enforced since 1967, for the development of tourism, intercommunality would profitably be extended to the global reorganisation of space, so as to avoid a fall of density below 20 inhabitants/sq km.

Situées au contact du Bassin Parisien et du Massif Central, les 17 communes du Pays de Tronçais (540 km² et 11 000 habitants) subissent un déclin démographique et économique inquiétant, malgré des atouts paysagers, dont la forêt domaniale de Tronçais, et des efforts de valorisation déjà anciens. Appliquée depuis 1967 pour le développement touristique, l'intercommunalité gagnerait à être étendue à l'aménagement global de l'espace afin d'éviter que la densité ne tombe en dessous de 20 hab./km²
