Résumé En

This study about the quantitative and qualitative editorial space devoted to the French colonial Empire in a great régional newspaper on the eve of World War II underlines the particular importance of the years 1937 and 1939. Above all, « Empire » meant Africa and the Middle East ; the deep praising treatment of colonization clearly expands through an insight that build the Empire as a strategic reserve which France could not miss. More hope than reality indeed.
