An old gold weights collection, may be the first, has been collected in the beginning of 1870 years by afrench man, Marie-Joseph Bonnat. Few educated, but inquisitive mind, he has been captived by Ashanti in actual Ghana. This collection, he carried in France, seems to be lost.

Une des premières collections de poids à peser l'or akan, sinon la première, a été, au début des années 1870, celle d'un Français, Marie-Joseph Bonnat. Cet homme peu instruit et doté d'une grande curiosité d'esprit, était alors captif des Ashanti (dans le Ghana actuel). Cette collection, qu'il avait rapportée en France, semble avoir disparu sans laisser de traces.
